We weigh every single part that we remove and install on our MX-5e and we are also weighing the whole car at various stages of the project. This enables us to accurately predict the final weight of our MX-5e project and ensure we are on track to meet our target weight of less than 1000kg. To make it easier to weigh the heavier items and the car, we have developed our own vehicle scales.
On the 27th we weighed the MX-5e for the first time at 987.2kg. Having factored in all the bits we removed and added, we estimate that the original car weighed about 1021.5kg.
